Epistaxis

Epistaxis, or nosebleed, is common in childhood. In a child with epistaxis, lean their head forward (not back!) to prevent swallowing of blood.

Pinch the soft part of the nose with thumb and forefinger and maintain pressure for 10 minutes while the child breathes through their mouth. Educate children with frequent epistaxis to avoid forceful nose blowing!
