Patients with Crohn's Disease will experience periods of flare-ups. During severe exacerbations, complete NPO status for bowel rest with total parenteral nutrition (TPN) may be needed. Ongoing, the patient should consume a high-calorie, low-fiber diet and eat small, frequent meals.
