When feeding an infant with cleft palate, position them in an upright position and burp them frequently during the feed.

When feeding an infant with cleft palate, position them in an upright position and burp them frequently during the feed. After surgical reconstruction, use elbow immobilizers to protect the surgical site, and avoid placing anything into the mouth (including pacifiers!).
