When calculating the body surface area of a child affected by burns, be sure to use the Lund and Browder chart. It is more accurate than the rule of 9s in the pediatric population. Each arm is 10%, anterior and posterior trunk are 13% each, and the percentage for head and legs varies based on patient's age.
