Amber Rose McCartney is a Student Outcome Specialist and Assistant Professor of Nursing Remediation at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California. She is passionate about empowering nursing students to overcome academic challenges, strengthen their confidence, and achieve lasting success.
Amber earned her Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and her Master of Arts from the University of Leeds in England before spending a decade overseas as a teacher and translator. Upon returning to the United States, she pursued a new calling in nursing, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington.
In 2025, Amber joined the College of the Desert nursing faculty, where she combines her extensive background in education with nursing expertise to create engaging, supportive, and student-centered learning experiences. She is recognized by students and colleagues for her motivational teaching style, creative problem-solving, and ability to make complex concepts approachable and meaningful.
